Violette liqueur is a very special ingredient. It has an intensely blue colour as well as a really potent flavour. It can easily owerpower any cocktail. However used in the right amounts (read: small amounts) it can be pretty fantastic. Couldn’t resist bringing out this skeleton garnished straw, and shaking up Bar Canon’s transfusion cocktail. Adding red food coloring to a drink we would normally call slight cheating, but on a day like today it seems totally fair! And don’t let the long list of ingredients scare you. They all mix well together, creating a spooky good cocktail. We especially like the addition of chili liqueur, giving the drink a hair rising effect. Happy Halloween! A little brown it turned out, but the taste is anyway bursting with intricate flavors. There's the aromatic violet liqueur, the powerful absinthe, the slightly sweet sloe gin and then tequila. An interesting recipe indeed, that we think worked well. Always nice to use sloe gin, it's such a vibrant product and we do appreciate its semi sweet character. The Swedish cherries are here, and we wanted that to permeate this post. While not using the cherries in the actual cocktail they made a perfect side snack to be enjoyed together with the drink. And, with Heering in the ingredients list there is still cherry in the cocktail, although Danish rather than Swedish. The cocktail turned out nicely, maybe a little on the sweet side.
