Gran Martini

Gran Martini

We wanted to make a very Swedish cocktail, and were kindly gifted a bottle of fir liqueur from Jonas Bronck’s Spirit [http://jonasbroncksspirit.com/]. Swedish Jonas Bronck, born around 1600, emigrated to America 1639 and is believed to be the man naming The Bronx county in the USA. Some two hundred years later a lot of Swedes emigrated to America to leave poverty and famine behind them. Still today there are Swedish villages in the USA, for example Andersonville in Chicago, where we have visited

Mother's Little Helper

Mother's Little Helper

Drinks named in a funny way we're always particularly drawn to. Mother's Little Helper is definitely such a name. But also when looking through the list of ingredients we immediately knew we would like it. Sherry has become one of our favourite ingredients lately, being relatively neutral it pairs well with most other ingredients, at the same time keeping the drink's ABV on a moderate level. The small amount of elderflower liqueur in this recipe sweetens the drink in a subtle but sufficient way.

Old Alhambra

Old Alhambra

Always excited to make chocolate cocktails. In this one there is just a touch of it though, so it certainly doesn't overwhelm the cocktail. What it rather does is to smooth out the smokey scotch in a quite clever way. Left behind is a mellow and round cocktail, further enhanced by the rich cream sherry and some delicious vermouth. Still, we just had to shoot this cocktail surrounded by cacao nibs… Old Alhambra Recipe by Leo Robitschek Ingredients: 0,25 oz white crème de cacao 0,5 oz cream she

Means of Preservation

Means of Preservation

We just think there's something very elegant with clear cocktails. It's like you cant't hide something, so the cocktail ends up looking very pure. It can still be potent though, in this recipe there is a large amount of gin, and just like with a Martini it is only ever so slightly enhanced with dry vermouth. The addition of the sweet elderflower, combined with the celery bitters is of course what makes this recipe different - and so in the most delicious way! Means of Preservation Recipe by Joh

Astoria

Astoria

It is finally our turn to try St. George's Terroir Gin [http://www.stgeorgespirits.com/spirits/gins/st-george-terroir-gin/]. We have read so much about, so using it in this Astoria cocktail was quite exciting. Douglas fir, California bay laurel and coastal sage are a few of the slightly unexpected ingredients in this gin. And especially the fir shines through, creating an earthy, foresty gin that is actually quite different to most other gins we have tried. The Astoria is basically a reversed

Vatican City

We had to make one more from Drew Lazor's [https://www.instagram.com/drewlazor/] new book “Session Cocktails [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0399580867/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0399580867&linkCode=as2&tag=cocktaildetou-20&linkId=3f8974c0d43bf0239781289c3027d6cc] “. These low-alcohol recipes are so fitting for the super summer we are experiencing in Sweden. This is the Vatican City by Mikki Kristola. We love how French gentian spirit Suze is the star of this

Iridescent

Iridescent

IRIDESCENT Not only do we get to try Japanese Roku gin for the first time at home, but we also get to do it in our original recipe for the Iridescent cocktail. We started off by trying the Roku neat, and enjoyed it tremendously. It is a gin with very evident citrus notes, so we thought it would work nicely with some kind of citrus liqueur. In the end we opted for mandarin liqueur, and we also added Riesling vermouth from Belsazar. The pièce de résistance in this cocktail though is the red win
