Absinthe

Absinthe, the legendary “green fairy,” is a high-proof, anise-flavored spirit made from wormwood, fennel, and herbs. Once banned for its rumored effects, it’s now legal and key in classics like the Sazerac and Corpse Reviver No. 2. Just a dash adds bold, herbal complexity to cocktails, making absinthe both mysterious and essential in the modern bar.

A drink to drink by the fire place. This one is boozy, and it's a play on the much appreciated classic Sazerac cocktail. We're using Naked Grouse scotch, which works fantastic in high ABV-drinks like this one, where the whisky is in focus. The absinth rinse is brilliant, just a tiny amount goes a very long way and you might actually wanna use less than the suggested 0,25 oz if your'e not used to absinth. That'll take the edge off Recipe from “Be your own Bartender” Ingredients: 2 oz sco

The Jawbox [https://jawboxgin.com/story] gin that we are using today is a particularly good one, made in Belfast. In the gin there are eleven different botanicals, one of them being local Belfast Black Mountain Heather. It's a potent and powerful gin that we knew we needed to use in a similarly styled cocktail. A classic Corpse Reviver No. 2 was decided upon. It is one of our favourite drinks, as we love both gin and Absinth. The licorice notes from the Absinth worked in perfect harmony with

Zacapa Nuet

Some months ago we attended a solo dining experience called Nuet. You had dinner at a table set for one, with the idea to immerse yourself fully into the food without any conversation at all. They even provided earphones with curated music to go with each dish. A truly unique experience. For us cocktail nerds, the cocktail pairing with each dish was probably the highlight of the evening. We were actively looking for a new absinthe drink, and stumbled upon this one by Daniel Hyatt. And while there might only be eight drops of absinthe in the drink, it is still a very defining ingredients as expected.⁣ ⁣ What is particularly nice with this one is how the potent absinthe is mellowed by the honey - they really play well together.⁣ ⁣ Ginger liqueur is another ingredient that can be overwhelming if used in the wrong way. But we believe also the intensity of the ginger is mellowed by

In Berlin there is a shop called Absinth Depot [https://absinthdepot.de/en/] and they are of course specializing in absinthe. When we were there recently we not only got to try several different absinthes, but we also got some good advices on which bottles to bring home. ⁣ ⁣ In this, the Green Beast cocktail, we are using an absinthe from Lemercier Frères. They are basically not present in social media which is unusual these day. But we also find that a bit liberating. They obviously focus all

Cabaret Cocktail

Cabaret Cocktail

The rather elegant pinkish colour perfectly sums up the experience of this cocktail. It's sophisticated, glamorous, fun and delicious. We love the name, Cabaret. It kind of makes it extra enjoyable to consume. We exaggerated the feeling by adding feathers, vintage gold cocktail picks and brandies cherries. Cabaret Cocktail Recipe Ingredients: 1 oz gin 0,75 oz Lillet Blanc 0,25 oz Benedictine liqueur 1 dash absinthe 1 dash Angostura bitters Mixing: Stir all ingredients with ice and strain

This is a very elegant tequila cocktail, that we decided to further dress up with some vintage cocktail picks and brandied cherries. The chocolate liqueur adds a very earthy and delicious sweetness to the drink, and balance the sour lemon perfectly. 21st Century Recipe by Jim Meehan Ingredients: 0,75 oz blanco tequila 0,75 oz clear cacao liqueur 0,75 oz fresh lemon juice 1 barspoon absinthe Mixing: Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a coupe. Amore Morado

A little brown it turned out, but the taste is anyway bursting with intricate flavors. There's the aromatic violet liqueur, the powerful absinthe, the slightly sweet sloe gin and then tequila. An interesting recipe indeed, that we think worked well. Always nice to use sloe gin, it's such a vibrant product and we do appreciate its semi sweet character.
