What's extra striking about this drink is how the small amount of amaretto almond liqueur manages to shine through quite a lot, and somehow determine the drink's main profile.

The amaretto mixes well with genever, a combination we believe we are trying for the first time here. The lemon juice is needed to balance the sweetness from the liqueur. (But despite the fruit juice content the recipe says the drink should be stirred and not shaken).

The golden tone the amaretto gives the drink is beautiful we think. It almost looks like this drink is just a single spirit poured from a bottle, but the very first sip reveals it's actually a mixed cocktail.

A Spirit(ual) Journey Throughout the North of Sweden

It has always been on our wishlist, to tour the more northern parts of Sweden. Our interest in spirits and cocktails have taken us to many places in Sweden and abroad, but until now not really more north than Uppsala. Well this just changed, as we got the chance to pay a visit to gin producer Norrbottens Destilleri. And this was just the start of five fantastic days, driving between so many beautiful spots.
