San Francisco
Cheers to you Mark of @marks.cocktail.lab - we are your #SecretSanté 2020!
In the research phase for this important task, we scrolled through your entire feed of cocktail photos. And wow, you make some stunning creations! Lately you've been presenting all your cocktails with a velvet black backdrop that certainly makes each drink pop. It looks truly beautiful!
But it's actually the cocktail on your very first post, from April 2016, that inspired us to todays tribute. Your first post is of a yellow and red longdrink with big black straws and an orange garnish. On the photo there's also an exotic parrot and a comfortable sofa visible.
With that in mind we decided it was time to make the dividing San Francisco cocktail! It is one of the classics from the 1990's and we actually remember having it back then. It's a rather sweet experience and one needs to be in the mood for it. But in the right setting, with the right company and with quality ingredients it's actually an intriguing drink:
2 oz vodka
0,5 oz Cointreau
0,5 oz banana liqueur
1,5 oz orange juice
1 oz pineapple juice
0,25 oz grenadine
Shake all ingredients with fresh ice and fine strain into a highball glass. Or for a layered effect, shake without the grenadine and rather drizzle it over the cocktail at the end.
What we find most appealing is the banana flavour. We always use Giffard Banane du Brésil which is not at all as artificial as the banana liqueurs of the nineties.
Mark, your first Instagram post ever does not fully reveal exactly what cocktail it's portraying. But we hope you think we still captured the mood and the feeling of that post. We'd like to wish you a Merry Christmas!
SecretSanté is an annual cocktail event organized by @servedbysoberon - Matthias. We are delighted to participate for the fourth time.
